About Recorder Eugene "Gene" Moore

Eugene "Gene" Moore was sworn in as Cook County Recorder of Deeds on January 20, 1999 and is currently in his 3rd term as Recorder of Deeds. Recorder Moore has been a public servant for a number of years. He served as the State Representative for the 7th Legislative District in the Illinois General Assembly from 1993 until 1999. Recorder Moore also has served as Committeeman for the Proviso Township Regular Democratic Organization since March of 1998 to 2006.

While in Springfield, Recorder Moore served on several committees including Revenue, Registration and Regulation, Insurance, Personnel and Pensions and Healthcare Availability and Access. He also served on the School Violence and Juvenile Crime Prevention Task Forces. Recorder Moore believes in constituent services. In the community, he has worked to help alleviate property and consumer fraud, hosted property tax seminars, assisted residents and seniors with property tax appeals and exemptions and sponsored Back To School and Senior Picnics. He also is an avid supporter of youth through mentoring, scholarships, sports and academic programs.

Recorder Moore's accomplishments are numerous. He converted all microfilmed images to digital images for all documents back to 1985. He imaged all tract book information held by the Recorder's office. He implemented a new, state of the art cashiering system and a more efficient and effective accounting system. The office now boasts the most in-depth Internet access site in the state of Illinois powered by a technologically advanced database indexing system. Documents can also be recorded electronically in Cook County thanks to the efforts of Recorder Moore.

Recorder Moore's vision for the Cook County Recorder of Deeds Office is to maximize its efficiency, not only in service to the public, but in service to the title industry and the business community at large; in addition to making the office a standard of excellence and a standard of professionalism.
